THE YUKON ARCTIC ULTRA
Jovica Spajic, Team Holyfat, Conquers One of the Toughest Races on Earth
When you hear the words "ultra endurance," the Yukon Arctic Ultra redefines the term.
300 miles of snow, sub-zero temperatures, and the kind of solitude that breaks most people long before the trail ends. The Montane® Yukon Arctic Ultra (MYAU) is not just a race. It's survival on foot, ski, or fat bike through the sub-Arctic wilderness — with nothing but what you carry and the mindset to keep moving forward. No crowds. No comfort. Just cold.
And this year, Holyfat athlete Jovica Spajic didn’t just survive.
He dominated.
The MYAU: Where Frostbite and Mental Fatigue are Just the Beginning
The MYAU follows the historic Yukon Quest trail, beginning in Whitehorse and cutting through the vast, remote Canadian wilderness. The full 300-mile course is a gauntlet of frozen rivers, deep forests, and mental isolation. Temperatures drop to -40°C. The trail markings vanish in the snow. Darkness is long and punishing.
This is where most break.
But not Jovica.
Jovica Spajic: The Relentless Force
From the moment the race began, Jovica Spajic led the foot discipline. No theatrics. Just steady, disciplined progress. Every step — calculated. Every checkpoint — conquered.
-
Feb 7: Arrives at Pelly Crossing.
-
Overnight march to Pelly Farm: minimal rest, maximum efficiency.
-
Feb 8: Crosses the finish line in Pelly Crossing.
Spajic stayed ahead of seasoned ultrarunners like Daniel Benhammou and John Nakel — both MYAU veterans from the U.S. — and finished with the same energy he began with: focused, fast, and fiercely composed.
“Never stopping for long, always with a look of determination,” said MYAU admin Callum Joliffe. “He did his loved ones and his country proud.”
Powered by Purpose – And Holyfat
Success in a race like the MYAU isn’t just about endurance.
It’s about precision — in planning, mindset, and nutrition.
Jovica’s strategy wasn’t luck. It was Holyfat: high-performance, low-carb fuel engineered for ultra-distance athletes who operate where the margin for error is zero.
-
Steady, long-burning energy.
-
No sugar crashes.
-
Formulated for extreme conditions.
This is what Holyfat stands for: fuel for those who lead from the front. The elite. The relentless. The disciplined.
Why This Matters
In an era of shortcuts, Spajic’s victory is a masterclass in discipline, preparation, and pushing human limits. It's also a reminder of what Holyfat is here to support — not the average, not the comfortable, but those who thrive in discomfort.
The MYAU is brutal, but it’s real.
That’s why we’re proud.
Not just of Jovica. But of what this win represents.
